Simon is a freelance writer and book editor. He has been a playwright and screenwriter, and a theatre director, producer, and actor. He published the Canadian theatre magazine The Next Stage from his hometown of Vancouver, B.C. He has worked behind a long series of bars over a thirty-year bartending and hospitality-management career in neighbourhood pubs, frenetic night clubs, and fancy-dancy cocktail lounges, and was a founding board member of the Canadian Professional Bartenders Association. He is a Certified Specialist of Spirits, which allows him to sign off with the post-nominal CSS, but he usually doesn’t.
Simon has written on theatre, drinks and dining, spirits, mentorship and health in the service industry, and the delicate art of living. He is the managing editor of Tellwell Publishing, headquartered in Victoria, B.C.
