Simon

Simon is a freelance writer and book editor. He has been a playwright and screenwriter, and a theatre director, producer, and actor. He published the Canadian theatre magazine The Next Stage from his home town of Vancouver, B.C. He has worked behind a long series of bars over a thirty-year bartending and hospitality-management career in neighbourhood pubs, frenetic night clubs, and fancy-dancy cocktail lounges, and was a founding board member of the Canadian Professional Bartenders Association. He is a Certified Specialist of Spirits, which allows him to sign off with the post-nominal CSS, but he usually doesn’t.

Simon has written on theatre, drinks and dining, spirits, mentorship and health in the service industry, and the delicate art of living, all of which inform his upcoming novel, a multi-generational exploration of our relationship with alcohol and its effects. He is the head editor of Tellwell Talent Publishing, headquartered in Victoria, B.C. He lives on Prince Edward Island, where prohibition lasted forty-eight years.
