Sighted: Another Vancouver Theatre Blog!

I’m not breaking any news here, but there is a palpable resistance in the theatre community here to standing on a soapbox in the middle of the town square and shouting: “Hey! Look at me! Check me out! I am the greatest thing you will ever see!” We simply don’t brag enough, or talk about our art enough. I take as evidence of this the solemn lack of theatre blogs in this city. (And country, I think it’s fair to say.) The theatreweb is a marvelous resource full of terribly smart people who are instantly directly accessible. And believe me, there is a lot of room for growth.

So the discovery of another theatre blog right here in River City today has me thrilled to pieces. Vancouver on Stage is a new site by the almost sarcastically-Canadian named Larry Hoser, and appears to be independently devoted to opinion and reviews of the VanCity theatre scene. I love the URL of the site: Do Something Different. Indeed, Larry, well said.

Welcome to the show, Mr. Hoser, we’re looking forward to your contribution.

Oh, and if any of you know of any regularly updated Canadian theatre blogs that are flying under our radar, please drop them in the comments, we’d love to hear about them!

  1. Thanks for the shout-out, Simon! Looking forward to comparing notes, as you’ve got the perspective of someone in the biz, and I will likely remain the perpetual layman in the audience. Cheerio!

  2. And as such exactly who I want to be hearing from! Vancouver needs more blogs like yours, here’s hoping yours is a trendsetter…
